1. When I have a question about my Social Security, who do I talk to?

Call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 or visit www.socialsecurity.gov

2. I have a family member or friend as my current rep-payee and I am concerned that they are misusing my money, what can I do?

Call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 to report it. If you have no one else able to be your rep-payee, apply for DSS to be your rep-payee by calling (607)753-5265 to schedule an appointment or by coming into DSS from 8:30am - 11:30am or 1:00pm - 4:00pm (Monday through Friday) and ask to speak with an Adult Services Caseworker about getting a rep-payee from DSS.

3. How do I apply for Adult Services to be my rep-payee?

Either call our office at (607)753-5265 to schedule an appointment or come into DSS from 8:30am - 11:30 am or 1:00pm - 4:00pm (Monday through Friday) and ask to speak with an Adult Services Caseworker about getting a rep-payee from DSS.

No, this is a free service.

5. Do you help people find housing?

6. I received a letter from Social Security stating that DSS is my rep-payee, what do I do?

Call (607)753-5265 to schedule an appointment to meet with the Caseworker. Bring all of your bills with you to the appointment to discuss a budget.
