Fire Officer I / Module Series - NFPA 2020

Cortland County is offering the new Fire Officer I format. This format of Fire Officer I is administered by completing the five separate Fire Officer I Modules as outreach courses in any order: Leadership and Supervision, Company Training & Community Risk Reduction, Firefighter Health and Safety, Planning and Emergency Response, and Fireground Strategy and Tactics for First Arriving Companies. Upon completion of all five modules the student can apply for a Fire Officer I certificate. The series must be completed within two years.

Cortland County is offering the individual modules separately but as a continuous schedule for the fall of 2023. Students wishing only to take certain modules can do that. Other students lacking any modules from previous instruction can sign up and attend any of the modules in Cortland County. If a student is unable to complete a specific module, they will have the opportunity, within 24 months, to go to another county or the Fire Academy.

Students MUST sign up for each individual Module, even if the intent is to take all of them sequentially. Students completing all five modules this fall (2023), will be issues a Fire Officer 1 Certificate at the last class.
