Knowing What You Want to Be
How do you know what you want to do when you "grow up"? There are more job titles than you can possibly imagine. There are actually people who make a living tasting ice cream, filling shampoo bottles, writing information on websites, secret shopping, and teaching basket weaving.
There are thousands and thousands of opportunities. If you asked a bunch of adults what they thought they wanted to do when they were younger, and how they ended up doing what they do you, would get some pretty interesting stories. You actually do have choices though, and the more you know about yourself and the possibilities out there, the better your choices will be.
Our Career Center has books you can read to find out about different jobs you might not have thought of. You can also do some exploration of your own likes and dislikes and what kinds of jobs you might enjoy most. Don’t forget that your guidance counselor at school can help you as well as our staff at the center.
